Turku, a city on the southwest coast of Finland, straddles the Aura River. Dating from the 13th century, it's known for Turku Castle, a medieval fortress with a history museum, perched at the river mouth. Restaurants line the cobbled riverside streets. On the eastern bank lies the Old Great Square, a former trade hub, surrounded by grand buildings. The nearby Turku Cathedral houses a royal tomb and a museum.
We took an overnight cruise from Stockholm, Sweden to Turku, Finland. Reach Turku about 0730 hours. Before we alight from the cruise, we were well-prepared to head-on with the thick white snow, covering the whole city. Surprised!!! There were just a little snow here and there, and the environment was not as cold as expected. We took Bus no. 8 to the city bus terminal, where our accommodation was.

As it is still early, and the shops usually open around 1000 - 1100 hours during winter. Continue to rest after check-in to Hotel Hemi.
Have been eating western foods and breads, we began to miss our traditional chinese food... We found this restaurant (茉莉饭店) just behind our hotel and serving chinese buffet at 12 EUR per pax. Not too bad, they served fried noodle, fried rice, sushi... etc.
Christmas Market @ Market Square

Quite disappointed though. There is no Christmas feel. Only Christmas tree display and some lightings. |

Many boats anchored at the riverside have converted into restaurants. We chosen this as there are more people walking in and out... (Typical Singaporean) So a 3-pax candlelite dinner... |
